Senior Leadership Team
30+ Years of Experience
Prior to co-founding TriStar in 1999, Michael was a real estate attorney who transitioned to development in 1988 as the Vice President of a national shopping center developer.
For over the past 20 years, he has quarterbacked the TriStar team in over $1 billion of opportunistic and value add real estate investments and developments, including apartment complexes, office parks, mixed-use projects, retail centers, residential subdivision land and industrial parks, including Gateway Commerce Center (one of the largest industrial parks in the United States).
In coordination with the TriStar team, Michael is responsible for TriStar's investment process. In this capacity he participates in strategy planning, transaction structuring, due diligence, underwriting, capital raising and investor relations.
30+ Years of Experience
Before co-founding TriStar in 1999, Rod established and was the sole owner of a large residential construction company that was sold that year to a national firm. Since then he has worked with the TriStar team to originate and successfully complete over $1 billion in commercial real estate transactions.
Rod has worked in virtually all commercial real estate asset classes, with special attention to TriStar's infill, historic and work force housing ventures, as well as its investments in projects located in Opportunity Zones enabled by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017.
Rod is instrumental in TriStar's acquisition and investment sourcing.
He believes that disciplined investors can effectively deploy capital in all phases of the real estate cycle, including downturns.
Vice President of Finance
20+ Years of Experience
Mitch joined TriStar in 2001 and since that time has overseen the company’s financial, accounting, tax, administrative and portfolio management. His experience before 2001 includes accounting positions at Anheuser Busch Companies, Inc. and Nestle, USA.
Mitch's department is responsible for maintaining TriStar's debt relationships and overseeing loan closings.
His department supports the TriStar team in identifying, modeling, negotiating and procuring applicable public incentives such as property tax exemptions, improvement districts, tax credit programs, brownfields funds and bond financing. Many of these techniques and programs are not well understood, allowing TriStar to contribute insights and the lessons of practical experience to the partnerships in which it co-invests.
Mitch is a CPA and MBA.
